Upstate Islamic Center

Overview

The Upstate Islamic Center is an expansion project developed and managed by the Islamic Society of Greenville (ISG), an organization that has been serving the Muslims in the South Carolina Upstate for over 25 years.  This is an important project that will serve the needs of 4,000 Muslims in the vicinity.

The project is being developed in four phases:

  1. Purchase and development of the land, including clearing the trees, building a parking lot, and preparing the grading and detention pond (Completed in 2010)
  2. Construction of an 8000 square foot Multipurpose Hall (Completed in the beginning of 2011)
  3. Construction of an elementary school building.
  4. Construction of a Masjid for daily prayer services.

Current Project Status

The project is currently in the process of completing Phase 3, construction of the School Building.  The School Building will  to accommodate the full-time Islamic primary school, As-Sabeel Academy.  (More details of this phase of the Expansion Project can be found here.)
